Dial-up ended for One-Eleven customers outside of Lovington
One-Eleven Internet Services Inc. has ended its Internet dial-up access service outside of the Lovington area as of June 12 due to the sudden cancellation of service by their provider followed by a new proposal with a prohibitive increase in service cost.
"The idea of passing such a drastic rate increase on to our customers was simply unacceptable," said Alma Fair, president, One-Eleven.
Fair said a letter was mailed immediately to affected customers and offered the following points:
1. Our staff realizes you have been given literally no advanced notice and therefore One-Eleven will be here to work with you to find another dial-up provider or switch to broadband service (217-873-4636).
2. One-Eleven will gladly prorate your bill and a refund will be issued for the days of the month you have not used.
3. If you will provide One-Eleven with your new e-mail address, they will forward your One-Eleven e-mail to that new e-mail address until July 14. Your e-mail will stay on the server until July 14. Your account will be removed from our server on July 15.
Fair added, "This action in no way effects One-Eleven's dial-up access customers in Lovington or broadband Internet access customers (DSL or wireless) throughout our service area. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to our customers, many of who have been loyal to us for years. This unfortunate situation left us with no other alternative than to make an extremely difficult decision and take immediate action."
