The situations that the U.S. military must face are decided by those in Washington.  Right or wrong, good or bad, in America and by our Constitution, the military takes their orders from those in Washington.

Once those orders are given, as a member of the military, it is your job to fulfill them in the best way you can.

Those orders have a "Chain of Command", Congress to the President to the Joint Chiefs and down the line.

Our discussions look at the given situations and how we could have made them better or worse.

Join in and have some fun.

Discussion topics as of (2/5/08)

1.     Should the military use torture to get information that could save hundreds and thousands of lives. What is considered torture?

2.     During World War II, General George Patton wanted to attack the Russians after the Germans surrendered. He commented that we will have to fight them sooner or later. Why didn’t we continue into Russia?

3.     During Desert Storm, many people, as well as, many senior military leaders wanted to continue on to Baghdad. Why didn’t we?

4.     During the American Civil War, the Andersonville Camp Commander was prosecuted and hung for his actions, or lack of actions for the well being of the prisoners. Most prison camps were run the same way, both in the South and the North. Should we have prosecuted the other camp commanders as well?

5.     During most of the military conflicts and wars, some of the weapons and equipment lacked in the quality as was contracted. Why weren’t the companies prosecuted?

6.     During the Viet Nam conflict, the military operations were restricted to Viet Nam and not the adjacent countries. The enemy was using the adjacent countries to store their supplies and prepare for their military operations.
